BBC NEWS UK England Nottinghamshire 'Lightning capital' hit by storm: "The East Midlands was the UK's 'lightning capital' during Thursday's storms.
Electricity company Central Networks says just under 10,000 lightning strikes were recorded across the UK, with 7,377 (76%) in the East Midlands.
The strikes were recorded by a detector near Castle Donington."
That's just wild. I have always been a fan of lightning, so I am certain it would have definitely been a sight to see in 2003!
