BBC NEWS | Americas | US terror plot intelligence 'old': "The US administration admits that new warnings of attacks on American cities were based on information gathered by al-Qaeda up to four years ago.
Security was tightened around US financial institutions earlier this week after raids in Pakistan recovered documents reportedly naming them.
Homeland security adviser Frances Townsend said some of the information recovered was collected in 2000/2001."
UNBELIEVABLE!!! The United States are really missing the boat when they recover the evidence suggesting attacks on American soil dating back to 2000, probably about the Sept. 11 attacks to begin with!!! But, it's not their fault, and here's why:
In 1999, the world was ramping up to protect their computer systems against the Y2K computer bug. In 2000, freedom-assasin George W. Bush was elected next prez of the U.S. In 2000, some Pakistani computers probably malfunctioned because of the Y2K bug... so they did what they used to do: send the messages via boat-based courrier systems. The result: although the attacks truly happened in 2001, they were supposed to happen only after the U.S. received the warnings (duh!).... And the best part is that the above is going to be the goverment's excuse on: 1) not having intercepted the information sooner (because it was not digitally communicated), and 2) not having a clue what to do when data is communicated!
Alas, I put my faith in option #3 -- that the information provided to the President was never read and thus never acted upon for the exact same reasons he never read and acted upon other information leading up to the Sept. 11 attacks: he was out golfing, not worrying about the world's bad guys, and his reading abilities were as shoddy as his spelling.
